A.G. Howard’s Official “Untamed” Playlist & Giveaway
Welcome to the third day of the Untamed virtual book tour! Thank you, Jay, for the honor of hanging out again on your wonderful music blog for the first reveal of the tour: The Official Untamed Playlist!
By now, most of you have probably found the playlists for the first three books on my website. If not, here’s a link. All 32 Untamed musical titles are listed there now. However, I chose five to post here, so I could share the roles each one played personally for me in the conception and crafting of Untamed.
The Light by Sara Bareilles (lyrics)
Such a beautiful song. The poetic lyrics, buoyant percussion, melancholy piano accompaniment, and evocative vocals supplied the backdrop for the most emotional and heart-wrenching moment in the book. The scene was almost breaking me until I found this to listen to. “The Light” inspired layers of illumination and hope that otherwise I don’t think I could’ve reached. Once you read the story, SIX IMPOSSIBLE THINGS, you’ll know what scene I’m referring to, and the couple who this song defines so perfectly. It’s now one of my favorite moments in the book, for the peace it provides, and I have Sara’s phenomenal talent for speaking to the heart through music to thank for that.
Magic by Olivia Newton John (lyrics)
The theme this one represents for me might surprise you. It’s often considered a romantic ballad, thanks to the musical Grease. But that’s where subjectivity comes into play. On my playlist, this song is a spot-on representation of Alyssa and Alison’s relationship as mother and daughter, due to the lyrics and gentle teasing quality of Olivia Newton John’s vocals. After reading their stories, check out the lyrics for yourself, and see if you agree.
Incomplete by James Bay (lyrics)
I listened to this song on repeat while writing THE BOY IN THE WEB. The lyrics and poignant vulnerability of James Bay’s vocals encapsulate the essence of how Thomas feels about the up and downs with Alison—the magical and spirited fairy princess that he loves and treasures above all else in his mortal life.
Like a Song by Lenka (lyrics)
In SIX IMPOSSIBLE THINGS, we see Alyssa at her lowest, but also her highest. Through it all, there is one constant. An ember that glows in her life, a voice and song that takes wing in her mind. This is her tribute to him, in the moments when time seems to be catching her, no matter how fast she runs. Even then, she knows there’s hope on the horizon, because of the lullaby that rings eternal in her heart.
What You Need by Les Friction (lyrics)
Anyone who’s watched the emotionally twisted and magically entangled evolution of Morpheus and Alyssa’s relationship over the span of the series can appreciate this song. This one is from Morpheus’s perspective, and the lyrics so perfectly embody his character arc, especially by the end of the final book, Ensnared, and the lengths he’ll go to so his queen will be whole and ready to reign eternally in Wonderland.
Don’t forget to check out the rest of the playlist over on my website!
Also, be sure to enter the Rafflecopter for the domestic giveaway, and join the tour again tomorrow over at Adventures of a Book Junkie for the second Untamed reveal and a chance at some more INTL prizes!
About A.G. Howard
A.G. Howard was inspired to write SPLINTERED while working at a school library. She always wondered what would’ve happened had the subtle creepiness of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland taken center stage, and she hopes her darker and funkier tribute to Carroll will inspire readers to seek out the stories that won her heart as a child.
When she’s not writing, A.G.’s pastimes are reading, rollerblading, gardening, and family vacations which often include impromptu side trips to 18th century graveyards or condemned schoolhouses to appease her overactive muse.

A post-Ensnared collection of three stories—available in both print and e-versions.
Alyssa Gardner went down the rabbit hole and took control of her destiny. She survived the battle for Wonderland and the battle for her heart. In this collection of three novellas, join Alyssa and her family as they look back at their memories of Wonderland.
In Six Impossible Things, Alyssa recalls the most precious moments of her life after Ensnared, and the role magic plays in preserving the happiness of those she loves. Alyssa’s mother reminisces about her own time in Wonderland and rescuing the man who would become her husband in The Boy in the Web. And Morpheus delves into Jeb’s memories of the events of Splintered in The Moth in the Mirror, available in print for the first time.
This collection expands upon Ensnared‘s epilogue, and includes some deleted scenes to provide a “director’s cut” glimpse into the past and futures of our favorite Splintered characters.
