My Top Five Guitar Riffs

I love me some head banging, horn throwing, frenetic rock ‘n’ roll. The biggest reason I prefer the hard rock genre is because of the shredding of guitars. A few of these picks are classic, a few current. But all are killer.

Listen up, turn it up, and check ‘em out.

5. “Sweet Child O’ Mine” by Guns n’ Roses

Catchy, easily recognizable intro guitar riff to an amazing song. Yep, this is the ringtone when my eldest son calls me.

4. “Crazy Train” by Ozzy Osbourne

Classic frenzied pick of one of Ozzy’s great solo songs. This intro perfectly fits the “Crazy Train” chorus and lyrics.

3. “Where Did the Angels Go?” by Papa Roach

You can’t not bang your head up and down when you hear this cool riff. (Check out the intro, then hear it at 0:57 and 1:53). Crazy cool live. Have you seen them live? Most energetic band live I’ve ever seen! Papa Roach’s “Face Everything and Rise” is the Song of the Week.

2. “You Waste Your Time” by Tremonti

Talented multitasker, Mark Tremonti is also the lead guitar of Creed and Alter Bridge. He happens to be my fave lead guitarist. Mark has created so many cool guitar pieces in all three bands that it was difficult to pick just one. But I did and it’s “You Waste Your Time” from Tremonti’s first album. Second album is coming soon!

1. “Unholy Confessions” by Avenged Sevenfold

Coolest intro to a song ever. Synyster Gates and Zacky Vengeance rip it up to a song I never get sick of. This happens to be my most played song on my ipod.

What’s your favorite guitar riff?
