Not going to lie. Sometimes holidays confuse me. Like Easter. With the bunny and the eggs.
But Labor Day? That one, after a bit of research, is just as straight-forward as it sounds: it was organized in 1882 as a day of celebration, tribute, and rest for working men and women, and it happens on the first Monday in September for those of us in the US and Canada.
So today as you grill with family and friends or hit the beach, enjoying those last sweet moments of summer, remember that today is all about recognizing the hard work that you do each and every day, that it’s a way to say thanks and to rest, relax, and recharge with family and friends.
Here’s a few songs to help you celebrate:
Pharrell Williams “Happy”
Alan Jackson & Jimmy Buffet “It’s five o’clock somewhere”
Huey Lewis “Workin’ for a livin'”
Jennifer Nettles and Carrie Underwood cover Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5”
And we all know not to wear white after today, right? Because that makes TOTAL sense.
Happy Labor Day!
